Carrathool Shire Council has landfills in Hillston, Goolgowi, Merriwagga, Rankins Springs and Carrathool.
Council provides a garbage collection service for Hillston, Merriwagga and Goolgowi. Collection occurs Tuesday mornings for Hillston, and on Thursday mornings for Goolgowi & Merriwagga. Residents of Carrathool and Rankins Springs can utilise waste depots in close proximity to these townships.
